🌿 Stillness is the pause between stimulus and response.
🌿 Stillness is where clarity emerges.
🌿 Stillness is the space where we reconnect with ourselves before we engage with the world.

Yet, how often do we resist it?

We fill the silence. We rush to the next task. We stay busy, mistaking movement for progress.

But mindfulness isn't found in the doing; it's found in the being.
And being requires stillness.

The challenge isn’t finding time for stillness—it’s giving yourself permission to embrace it.

So today, take a pause. Just a moment.
Breathe.
Listen.
Be.

Everything else can wait.

When Nothing Seems to Be Going Your Way…
There is a path being paved
I know that feeling all too well, especially the last few weeks.
The feeling that not everything is going your way; one where every door seems to close, where every effort feels like it's met with resistance, and you knocking and screaming for the door to open – but no one hears you on the other side.

It’s Frustrating. Exhausting. And Disheartening.

Some reminders for those days, when the world looks bleak ( and the weather too…)

🌿 Just because it’s hard now doesn’t mean it will always be.
🌿Just because you can’t see the progress doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
🌿Just because the path isn’t clear doesn’t mean you’re lost.

Some of the best things in life unfold in ways we never expected.
The detours, the delays, the "not yets" may be what is shaping us in ways we can’t fully understand in the moment – but one day it will all make sense.

Not sure when, but I have faith it will.

Take a deep breath. Keep showing up. Keep moving forward, even if it’s just one small step at a time.

The breakthrough you need might be closer than you think. 💛

Permission to Pause

We’re just a couple of weeks into January, and already, it feels like the pressure is on. Everywhere you look, it’s about setting goals, being productive, and making 2025 your “best year yet.”

Are you feeling that pressure to perform and be your best?

It’s easy to get caught up in the “go, go, go” mindset at the start of the year. You don’t have to do everything all at once. It’s okay to pause, to take a breath, and to ease into the year quietly at your own pace.

But How?

This isn’t about ignoring your responsibilities. It’s about protecting your energy so you don’t burn out before February even arrives.

Here are a few ways to approach the start of the year differently:

- Take small steps: Focus on one or two priorities instead of overwhelming yourself with everything at once.

- Listen to your body: If you’re feeling tired or stretched too thin, it’s okay to rest. Pushing through isn’t always the answer.

- Be kind to yourself: Not every day has to be productive. Some days, just getting through is enough; and that’s okay.

Focus on Being Enough

10 days into January already... feeling the “New Year; New me” vibes?

Every January, we’re pushed into setting ambitious, over-the-top resolutions.
Is it because a new year feels like a chance to start fresh; an opportunity to leave behind the struggles, missteps, and challenges of the past year. It feels like a do-over for all the ways we think we “weren’t good enough.”

So, we set resolutions to improve, to grow, and to become “more” of what we think we are not.

How many of these resolutions stick beyond February? Research shows most don’t.

Why? Because they’re often too big, too rigid, and tied to an all-or-nothing mindset - and sometimes we feel not good enough to follow through.

January is just another month - a marker as we journey around the sun. That trip doesn’t make us “new.” It might make us older, but it doesn’t "renew us" overnight.

What truly brings change is not the resolutions but the habits we build, the things that bring us joy, and the moments when we choose to be kinder to ourselves.

Earlier this week, I had a conversation with a client about reframing resolutions into habits. There’s no need to wait for January to make meaningful changes; it’s a choice we can make any time, any day.

Why habits?

💛 They’re small, sustainable, and not overwhelming.
💛 They build momentum and energy over time.
💛 They’re flexible and adapt to the ups and downs of life.

How can you start building sustainable habits?

💛 Start small. Choose one habit you can practice daily, weekly, or monthly.
💛 Link it to something familiar—a routine you already have.
💛 Celebrate the small wins. Track your progress in a way that feels rewarding.
💛 Be gentle with yourself. If you miss a day, it’s not failure, just pick up and keep going.

As we move through 2025, I invite you to focus on habits that serve us, small joys that sustain us, and a kinder approach to growth—one that allows us to be human, imperfect, and - enough.

Find Awe in the Ordinary

Have you ever paused to feel genuinely amazed by the beauty and spender world?

Those moments that catch your breath, where time feels suspended, are more powerful than we might realise. Experiencing awe makes us calmer, kinder, and even more creative. It has the remarkable ability to pull us out of our own heads, quiet our egos, and connect us to something bigger than ourselves.

Dacher Keltner, a psychologist at UC Berkeley and author of Awe: The New Science of Everyday Wonder and How It Can Transform Your Life, has spent years exploring how these moments impact us. He describes awe as “the feeling of being in the presence of something vast that transcends your current understanding of the world.”

This could be a stunning view from a mountaintop or the simple sight of the morning sun painting the sky. One of the most powerful examples he shares is the “overview effect”; a shift in perspective astronauts feel when looking at Earth from space. Awe doesn’t need to be reserved for once-in-a-lifetime experiences. It’s right here, waiting for us in our everyday lives.

Ways to Experience Awe in Everyday Life:

• Listen to Music that Moves You 🎶: Put on a song or piece of music that you love. Close your eyes and let it wash over you.

• Watch the Sky ✨: Take a moment to look at the stars on a clear night or catch a sunrise. Let yourself be still and just watch.

• Explore Art 🎨: Go to a museum or find an artist’s work that resonates with you. Let yourself feel whatever comes up.

• Notice the Small Wonders 🐦: Watch a bird in flight, feel the texture of sand between your fingers, or notice the detail in a flower.

• Spend Time with Kids 👶: If you have children or spend time with them, watch how they experience the world; curious, open, and full of wonder.

You don’t have to go looking for awe in extraordinary places. The beauty of this emotion is that it can be found in the ordinary, too.

Letting yourself be present, even briefly, can shift your day and connect you more deeply with life.

Did you know that about 47% of our waking hours are spent in a state of mind-wandering?

When our attention drifts from the present to internal thoughts, it can often lead to feelings of stress or unhappiness (Killingsworth & Gilbert, Harvard 2010).
Mindfulness can help us ground ourselves and reclaim our focus.

What Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is about paying attention—both inwardly to our thoughts and emotions, and outwardly to what’s happening around us. It’s a simple, honest practice of being fully present.

Here are the 7 Key Attitudes of Mindfulness (Kabat-Zinn):

1.⁠ ⁠Non-judging: Be an impartial witness to your experience. Notice your judgments and let them pass.

2.⁠ ⁠Patience: Embrace the process; everything unfolds in its own time.

3.⁠ ⁠Beginner’s Mind: Stay curious and open, avoiding the trap of expertise.

4.⁠ ⁠Trust: Trust yourself and your feelings, mistakes and all.

5.⁠ ⁠Non-Striving: Be with yourself as you are, without pushing for change.

6.⁠ ⁠Acceptance: See things as they are, which helps guide appropriate action.

7.⁠ ⁠Letting Go: Release the urge to cling to certain emotions or thoughts. Allow your experience to be just as it is.

The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Method is a powerful tool to bring you back to the moment:

•⁠ ⁠5: See five things around you.
•⁠ ⁠4: Feel four things you can touch.
•⁠ ⁠3: Hear three sounds.
•⁠ ⁠2: Smell two scents.
•⁠ ⁠1: Taste one thing.

Mindfulness doesn’t need to be perfect; it’s about making the choice, moment by moment, to be present.

Even small steps can have a profound impact.

It’s crazy season, with so many things happening at once, as people gear up for the end of the year, our days are most likely more busy than ever, especially mornings – which don’t always go as planned. Mornings can be hectic ; one is barely out of bed before the chaos starts.

A gentle reminder - even on the busiest days, one small, simple routine can make all the difference for the day.
Here are a few ways to set yourself up for a calmer day

1.⁠ ⁠Breathe 🌬️ – Before you grab your phone or rush out of bed, take a moment to close your eyes and take one deep breath. Just one. It’s a tiny pause, but it can set a calmer tone for your morning.

2.⁠ ⁠Drink Water 💧 – Drinking a glass of water as soon as you can helps wake up your body and refreshes your mind.

3.⁠ ⁠Move a Little 🤸‍♀️ – If a full workout isn’t possible, a quick stretch or reaching for the ceiling a couple of times can help shake off the morning stiffness.

4.⁠ ⁠Set a Simple Intention 📝 – Pick one thing to focus on for the day, just something that keeps you grounded, like “stay patient” or “breathe more.

5.⁠ ⁠Nourish your body 🍏 – Try have a healthy breakfast and if you can’t, a fruit or a handful of nuts is enough to keep your energy going when you’re short on time.

✨ Some mornings are better than others, try find peace and stillness even if it’s for 5 min a day for yourself.

What’s one small thing you do to make mornings easier?

For me it’s a cup of tea in bed, placing a conscious intention for the day, or just a few moments of breathing before the rush of the day starts.

🌱 Start Small – One small task can often create a much-needed sense of progress. By starting with the smallest, simplest task in front of you, it’s easier to build momentum and lift the weight of feeling overwhelmed.

🌟 Your inner critic holds you back🌟

We all have that inner voice—sometimes supportive, often critical. This voice can become especially harsh, becoming what psychologist Eugene Sagan calls the pathological critic. For many of us, this critic is a relentless presence, attacking our self-worth and clouding our perception of ourselves ( and keeping us in a loop of self-doubt, self-criticism and holding us back in a state of fear).

The pathological critic thrives on comparison, often pointing out how we fall short when we measure ourselves against others. It sets impossible standards of perfection, punishing us for the smallest mistakes while keeping a detailed album of our failures. Rather than celebrating our achievements, it chooses to remind us of our weaknesses, calling us names like “stupid,” “incompetent,” or “ugly.”

This inner critic exaggerates our flaws, convincing us that we “always mess things up” or “never finish anything on time.” It even goes so far as to predict how our friends view us, making us believe they are disappointed or turned off by who we are. 1. Acknowledge its presence: Understanding that this voice is not the truth but rather a negative perspective can help lessen its power.

2. Challenge the messages: Question the validity of its claims. Are they based on facts or fear?

3. Practice self-compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, just as you would a friend.

4. Focus on strengths: Create a list of your accomplishments and qualities that make you proud. Remind yourself of these often.

You are not alone in this struggle, and your worth is not defined by the harsh judgments of this inner voice.
